Radiologic procedures are vital to the diagnosis of many medical conditions, and the responsibility for quality imaging lies greatly with the radiologic technologist. When a patient is having an x-ray or other diagnostic imaging procedure, the radiologic technologist positions the patient, operates the equipment to record the image, and then provides the image to a radiologist for diagnosis.

The Radiologic Technology program curriculum has been developed to meet the requirements of the American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT). National Registry Exam
Graduates are eligible to challenge the national registry exam offered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). Upon successful completion of the program and the certification exam, graduates are eligible for South Carolina license through the South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association.
Professional Licensure and Certification Requirements
Students who are considering an academic program that may allow them to pursue professional licensure in another state are strongly encouraged to check that state’s information and contact the appropriate licensing agency for additional information and guidance before beginning the program.
Greenville Technical College is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to award associate and baccalaureate degrees. Degree-granting institutions also may offer credentials such as certificates and diplomas at approved degree levels.

Participating in a Career Talk session for your program is a requirement for all Health Sciences students. Career Talk is an information session that covers all program information, the admissions process and all aspects of the career. The application submission process for GTC's Radiology program is now electronic. The electronic application will only be accessible during the application acceptance periods, Dec 1–May 1. Students are admitted Fall, Spring and Summer semesters.
The Radiologic Technology program is designed as a 1 + 1 program, where Phase I includes your general education and related courses, which may be taken at Greenville Technical College or any articulating college.
Upon successful completion of Phase I, qualified students are eligible to apply for Phase II of the Radiologic Technology program in January through April. Applications for Phase II and supporting documentation must be postmarked no later than May 1.
Admission into the Greenville Technical College Radiologic Technology program Phase I does not guarantee admission into Phase II of the program. Phase II admission is competitive, based on weighted admission scores and the relative scores of the applicant pool each year.

Anmed is a hospital-based program that uses Cannon Hospital and Anmed Hospital as clinical sites.
Applicants who wish to obtain an associate degree from Greenville Technical College will need to document completion of Phase I and a minimum of 22 credit hours in Phase I before entering the AnMed Radiologic Technology Program. This documentation is complete once you meet with the program director, Yolunda Richards.
General education classes require a grade of “C” or better and a cumulative technical GPA of 2.5 or higher. Upon completing the AnMed program and meeting ARRT certification exam requirements, students will receive an Associate in Applied Science degree in Radiologic Technology from Greenville Technical College. Information regarding the required credit hour courses is available from Greenville Technical College.
To be accepted into the Radiologic Technology Program, prospective students must comply with degree requirements. The application deadline is February each year.

The mission of the GTC Radiologic Technology Program is to serve the community by graduating entry-level radiologic technologists who demonstrate a commitment to radiation safety practices and ethical standards of care, competency in critical thinking, an understanding of patient-centered care, respect for cultural diversity and the ability to function as a professional team member.
1.0 The students will demonstrate knowledge and application of radiation protection principles.
2.0. The graduates will demonstrate entry-level mastery of overall clinical skills.
3.0. The student will apply effective oral communication skills during the patient care process of a radiographic exam and during a mock interview by being clear and concise.
4.0. Students will engage in active listening and verbally obtain key information regarding the patient and procedure during an assessment, focusing on evaluating the patient’s condition to maintain safety.
5.0. The student will apply theory and practical knowledge to given scenarios to determine best clinical solutions.
6.0. The student will demonstrate the ability to accurately evaluate images for overall radiographic quality (positioning, technique and diagnostic acceptability).
